Mr. Markazi, You Make It Too Easy...
To follow up on a previous post, and to respond to the excellent points made by an Anonymous commenter, I offer my closing argument in support of why Arash Markazi is an actively negative force in the world of sports journalism.
From Markazi's August 19, 2006, column, second full paragraph after the campy "leader" definition:
"Everyone has there own theories on what is a leader."
Yes, you read that correctly. Not only is the pronoun the wrong one, but it is spelled incorrectly.
Now, Anonymous and others, I acknowledge your well-said arguments, but I offer this as an example of how both the form and substance of Markazi's writing is strikingly below average and should not be tolerated by Sports Illustrated's readership... silence is consent.

Well done, counselor.
Let's take a walk down the Lombardi path and ponder, "If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you will be fired with enthusiasm." What is SP waiting for? I'm guessing the first misspelling of Tiger will be enough. Bets on how long?
I stand by my original comments regarding this bit of sour milk named Markazi (as Anonymous A, a Blue and Gold and Blue and Gray Man, not be confused with Anonymous B).
Chico, your (you're for SP enthusiasts) close connections to Lombardi are not overlooked. He was originally on track to become a Catholic Priest (a secret desire you gave up for a hot wife). And interestingly, you are connected through both your alma maters.
Now if Lombardi could only come back from the grave and finish his last season with the Redskins, DC football would rise again.
On a different note, Andrade's first two rounds looked good.

I thought the column was decent, much better than a lot of the drivel I read on SI.com. Understand it's SI.com (the website) and not SI (the magazine) so they're not exactly giving us Reilly, Rushin and Smith when they roll out the likes of Markazi, Mandel and Mannix. That being said, a grammatical mistake like that should have been caught by the editors back at the office, especially if he's writing from his Sidekick as he's mentioned before. Even a high school sports editor should be able to catch a mistake like that during editing. I still contend he's a fun web read, much like many of the blogs out there these days, this included. I'm not expecting award winning writing, I have the New Yorker for that, but it gets me through the day.
